Professionals in the Floodplain and Stormwater Management
Certified Floodplain Manager
In September 1997, OFMA adopted a statewide program for certifying floodplain managers. The program recognizes continuing education and professional development that enhance the knowledge and performance of local, state, federal and private-sector floodplain managers. The OFMA certification program is nationally recognized and accredited by the Association of State Floodplain Managers, Inc. (ASFPM) as a Chapter that has established a national program for professional certification of floodplain managers. ASFPM is considered to be the authority on floodplain management throughout the Nation.

CFMs
Certified Stormwater Manager
OFMA Board of Directors is currently working on the development of this certification with partner organizations.
CFM® Continuing Education Credits Criteria
Required CECs
A minimum of 16 CECs over a two-year period is required to maintain certification status.
Other Professional Societies
Up to 2 CECs can be earned with membership in other professional or technical organizations. 1 CEC per organization permitted in the two-year renewal period.
Core Subjects
6 CECs can be earned from one-day workshops with a Core Subject focus.
Annual Maximum
Only 12 CECs can be earned in any given year.
12 CECs can be earned by successfully completing the L273 Course during the same week as passing the CFM exam.
Online Training
CECs earned for online training will only be given if a test is administered and passed.
Parallel Subjects
No more than 6 CECs can be earned in the listed parallel subjects in a two-year period. No more than 4 CECs can be in a full-day training event in these subjects
Flood Model Presenter
1 CEC can be earned by presenting and operating the OFMA Flood Model at outreach events.
Webinars
1 CEC can be earned during qualifying subject webinars when an agenda and attendance verification is submitted.
